In In FUNPASOS, we work actively in the conservation of natural resources using strategies of land stewardship, an innovative and collaborative approach that promotes the direct commitment of landowners and users—both public and private—to the protection and sustainable management of natural, cultural, and landscape values.
What is the land stewardship?
Land stewardship is defined as “a set of strategies and instruments that aim to involve landowners and users in the conservation and proper use of natural, cultural, and landscape values and resources. To achieve this, it promotes agreements and mechanisms for ongoing collaboration between landowners, stewardship organizations, and other public and private actors.”
As Entity of Land Stewardshipin FUNPASOS, we facilitate this collaboration. We bring together owners, public and private stakeholders, companies, and other key players to promote responsible management that benefits both the biodiversity and ecosystems as to the people who live, work and take care of these territories every day.
Land Stewardship Network FUNPASOS
We have developed the first Land Steawrdship Network of the country, who are already actively involved more than 10,000 hectares managed under the criteria of sustainability and conservation.
This Network allows you to:
• Set stewardship agreements of the territory between landowners and conservation organizations.
• Facilitate the development of environmental compensation measures by companies in the energy, infrastructure, and other sectors, in compliance with current environmental regulations.
• Create opportunities for collaboration to public organizations, businesses, property owners, and citizens wishing to be involved in the active conservation of the territory.
• Develop projects for research and innovation in sustainabilityincluding topics such as climate change, land management, agriculture and stockbreeding, carbon credits, and the credits of biodiversity.
A network of shared benefits
From FUNPASOS we work closely with both the companies that should offset the environmental impact of its activities, as with the owners of the territory, ensuring that the measures taken are effective, sustainable and beneficial to the environment and local communities.
The Land Stewardship Network FUNPASOS consolidates its position as a key tool to move towards a model of development that is more just, balanced and respectful of natural resources.
