Environment and fight against climate change
The objectives of GENERATION-SDG are to increase the awareness and understanding of the Goals for Sustainable Development (SDG) among young people; to support the defense of the young people and their participation; to promote active citizenship and social responsibility among young people and to promote climate action and environmental management, finally, to inspire community-based initiatives led by young people; to encourage future advocates to take on leadership roles in community projects related to SDG.
The GENERATION-SDG also responds to the elected horizontal priority “environment and fight against climate change”, because that is aligned with the Communication on the European Green Deal, recognizing the crucial role of education in engaging young people and the community in general for climate action. By engaging young defenders in activities related to the SDGS, the project empowers them to defend the sustainability and climate action in their communities and beyond. These young defenders can become agents of change, communicating effectively the changes needed for a successful transition towards climate neutrality by 2050, a key objective of the European Green Deal.
Activities
The G-SDG project aims to provide young people with tools to work and tackle the challenges of climate change. Alongside a training platform on each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the project aims to work with groups of young people from six countries to create practical and viable activities that will enable the goals to be achieved in their communities.
