In FUNPASOS, foundation for the participatory sustainability in Spain, we promote processes of citizen participation and democratic governance for the design of public policies that are more fair, effective, and sustainable. We accompany institutions, businesses, and communities in the design of participative solutions.
In In FUNPASOS we promote processes of citizen participation, social innovation and improvement of the public governance, with the goal of strengthening the democratic quality, promote sustainability, and promote decisions that are more fair, inclusive and effective.
We facilitate participatory and collaborative processes.
We design and implement participatory processes for public and private organizations, promoting the active involvement of the citizenry and the groups of interest in the design, implementation, and evaluation of public policies, services, plans and programmes linked to the environment, the energy transition, the sustainable mobility, the water use, the environmental legislation, the biodiversity or sustainable city, among other areas.
Through these processes, we promote dialogue, shared responsibility, and the creation of lasting consensus, thereby improving the transparency, legitimacy, and effectiveness of public decisions.
What are the participatory processes?
The participatory processes are the set of moments, tools, and actions designed to facilitate the involvement of different actors in social, political or economic decision making. May include workshops, group dynamics, meetings, exhibitions, interactive forums or virtual working groupsin order to provide a variety of viewpoints and enrich the decisions from multiple perspectives.
What is citizen participation?
The citizen participation it is based on mechanisms and spaces recognized by the Constitution and the applicable law, that allow people and communities to influence public decision-making. Requires the concurrence of all the actors present in a territory, and you must ensure the inclusion of individuals and entities that usually are not involved in the spaces of deliberation, institutional.
Elements of a participatory process quality
To ensure a participatory process efficient, transparent and transformer, it is necessary to have three key elements:
- Information and communication: All participants must have access to accurate, thorough and understandable information, which enable it to make informed decisions.
- Monitoring and evaluation: It is essential to establish mechanisms for monitoring, measuring results, and evaluating impact to ensure the continuous improvement of the process.
- Clear commitments: All of the agents involved must know and take the commitments, ensuring the consistency and continuity in decision making.
In FUNPASOS we fight misinformation and fake news around sustainability projects, promoting social trust through transparent and responsible communication. We create tools so that decisions are based on objective data, and we generate spaces where citizens feel heard, represented, and involved in the changes that affect their environment.
Governance for sustainability
We work to improve democratic governance in the design, management and delivery of public services. We do so by:
• The identification of interest groups (stakeholders).
• The management of relationships with key actors.
• The surveys, interviews, and studies of perception.
• The materiality analysis, which allows actions to be prioritized based on their social, environmental, and economic impact.
Our approach places citizens at the center of public action, creating inclusive, well-structured, and forward-looking processes. At FUNPASOS, we support institutions, companies, and communities in building a more participatory, sustainable, and resilient model of governance.
