SOS Prodehesa Montado
The dehesa-montado, which covers 30% of the surface area of Extremadura and Alentejo, is a crucial habitat and production system. This environment not only generates employment in rural areas and contributes to population stability, but also provides various ecosystem services and is home to a rich biodiversity. Given its vast extent and intrinsic characteristics, it has considerable potential for preventing risks that increasingly affect the cross-border territory, such as fires, floods, and desertification. It also plays a significant role in mitigating these risks thanks to its capacity to capture carbon.
EVC Árrago
The objective of EVC-Árrago is to ensure forest management conditions to improve forest fire prevention. In turn, it aims to achieve better soil protection against erosion processes, regulate the water regime, mitigate the effects of climate change, preserve biodiversity, and contribute to rural development in the Árrago Valley.
Generation-SGD
The objectives of the GENERATION-SDG project are to raise awareness and understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among young people; support youth advocacy and participation; promote active citizenship and social responsibility among young people; and promote climate action and environmental management. Finally, it aims to inspire community initiatives led by young people that motivate future advocates to take on leadership roles in community projects related to the SDGs.
Grazing-PV
FUNPASOS, together with three national entities, has launched the GRAZING-PV initiative, a research project that aims to implement management strategies based on extensive livestock farming in photovoltaic plants as a tool for designing more sustainable facilities.The aim is therefore to generate benefits and minimize the impact that the infrastructure of the plants has on the soil, flora, and fauna of their surroundings through good grazing practices, a basic pillar of rural development and a source of many ecosystem services.
Carbon Credits Conference
In recent months, there has been increased news coverage and debate about carbon markets and the proposed certification of removal currently under discussion in the EU.
The aim of this proposal is to scale up carbon removal and promote the use of innovative solutions for capturing, recycling, and storing CO2 by farmers, foresters, and industries.
Sustain-Pals
Sustain-PALS aims to organize and stimulate cooperation between CSOs and SMEs in Extremadura and provide a support framework to help SMEs evolve towards more responsible business models through open dialogue, capacity building, and expert advice.To this end, it plans to establish the sustainability context of Extremadura, identify sustainability gaps and training needs of CSOs and SMEs, promote capacity building for sustainability transformation, and offer coaching sessions that lead to new business models enabling sustainable growth of SMEs and progress towards sustainability.
Panel of Experts Natura 2000 Network
The panel brings together representatives from different institutions and private entities at the regional, national, and European levels to share their experiences and best practices in the inclusive participation of the population of the territories in the formulation of policies and strategies that affect natural resources.
